The climax of this story is when Montag burns and kills Beatty, his boss. It was around when the firemen had to go a house to burn the books when Montag realized that it was his own house. Mildred had betrayed him and called the alarm; Montag had no choice but to burn everything. After Beatty places Montag under arrest, he gets hold of the radio Faber had given Montag and tells him that he will trace it and find whoever it is. At last, Beatty gives another small talk and a quote, but then... Montag fires from his flamethrower he held in his hands and burns Beatty to DEATH. Easily, he knocks down the other firemen and runs away with a shot of anesthetic in his leg from a Hound.
This part is so totally the climax because it is the massive turning point. Who would have imagined Montag murdering his captain?? Just running away could have been a possible thought for readers, but killing? I guess he had to make the most significant decision to either hand himself over or kill or try to escape. It was exceedingly tense to read this part. I read it over and over again to make sure if it was true. The description was just, gross.

Hey judejudejude<3
lol ;)
I thought the climax of this book was when the bomb exploded because that is when all the loose ends get tied up and it is also the turning point for Guy. Guy’s questions about life are finally answered then and he decides to change his way of living. Guy is no longer confused. His old life is gone and his new one lays ahead of him, full of hope. This is a major turning point for Guy. Part of his future involves helping others not make the same decisions his city had: the decision to totally ignore knowledge and instead live for fun. However, after reading your blog I can see why you thought that the climax was when he killed Captain Beatty because Guy and his life does change. Murdering and running away didn’t really seem like the character of Guy at the beginning. Like you said, it is a turning point. I think either yours or my climax could be the actual climax if there was a good argument to support it. I guess it depends on people’s perspective and judgment of the book when it comes to finding the climax.
But good job!!
hey you know we have the smae blog background thingi...lol
I agree with Abby :) I thought the climax was when the bomb went off because it's when all the questions Montag has in his head gets answered. Also, it's towards the end of the book, which is where the climax should be located. However, I think a lot of people were confused of where the climax is because a lot of people thought when Guy kills his boss is the climax. However, he doesn't chanage as drastically as he does towards the end. And I agree with you that the part was really gross haha except I didn't read it again and again because it was gross;;; Anyways, I think ur post was really thoughful and good :)
Hey jane, i agree with your climax.
i never suspect that Montag will kill his boss! It was so ironic and shocking to me, and too you maybe- I hated the captain so when he threw the flame to him i was kinda happy:)zz But i wonder how can this Guy changed his mind. you know he hated the book like the other firemen, but he became book lover at the end, and that led to the murdering of his Captain amazing!-
